A New Year brings a fresh calendar full of basketball fixtures with the jewel in the crown the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
January began with the Rollers in camp in Melbourne ahead of the IWBF Asia Oceania Championships in Thailand where both the Rollers and Gliders will compete.
The end of January sees emerging athletes attend the National Performance Camp at the Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Canberra and our smallest hoopers will begin their year of basketball when Term 1 of Ford Aussie Hoops starts on January 29.
January 29 also marks the first national championships of the year with Ballarat playing host to the Foot Locker Under-20 and Ivor Burge Championships.
The Seven Consulting Australian Opals head to Brazil in a bid to book their ticket to the Paris Olympics with the Olympic Qualifying Tournament from February 8 to 11.
The Gliders travel to Japan for the Osaka Cup with the Rollers hosting Japan in a series at the AIS in Canberra.
The boom will take over Bendigo for one night only when the Australian Boomers take on Korea in a FIBA Asia Cup 2024 Qualifying Game on Thursday 22nd of Feb. The Boomers will then fly to Jakarta, Indonesia for Game 2 of the qualifying window to play Indonesia.

The Cygnett WNBL Finals tip off on February 28 with best-of-three semi-final series with the Grand Final series pencilled in for March 10, 13 and 16 (if required).
Our 3x3 teams will look to add to their growing medal collections when the Asia Cup is held in Singapore in late March.
The best young talent in the country will converge in Brisbane for April’s Foot Locker Under-18 National Championships and the Foot Locker National Junior Wheelchair championships.
May’s IWBF Repechage is the final chance for Paralympic qualification. Should the Gliders or Rollers require the final tier of qualification they will play in Japan and France respectively. 3x3 Olympic Qualifiers are also in May.
In June, the Australian Crocs are Turkey bound for the FIBA Under-17 World Cup.
July is young talent time with the Foot Locker National Under 16 Championships in and the FIBA Under-17 Women’s World Cup in Mexico.
The Paris Olympics come to life and will captivate the attention of the world from July 26 to August 11 with the Paralympics taking centre stage in August.
The Emus and Gems will have their eye on a podium finish at September’s FIBA Under-18 Asia Cup.
Casey Stadium in Melbourne’s outer south east will welcome back the Foot Locker Under-14 Club Championships for a second year in September.
November will feature FIBA Asia Cup 2025 qualifying games for the Boomers in Korea and Thailand with the Frank Ponta Cup, which showcases wheelchair athletes on the pathway to national team coaches, contested in Canberra
School pride will be on the line when the annual Foot Locker Australian Schools Championships on the Gold Coast, taking place from the 1st to the 6th of December, brings an epic year to a close.
