Queensland South’s girls have won their 3rd Norma Connelly Trophy at the Foot Locker U16 National Championships in Bendigo.
QLD South defeated Victoria Metro 83 - 62 in Sunday’s final to cap off an incredible undefeated run.
Star guard and Captain Olivia Olechnowicz finished the game with 44 points in a dominant display on the big stage.
QLD South led at every change including starting the game on a 13 - 2 run before Victoria fought back to be within three at quarter time. Olechnowicz put the foot down in the second term heading to the half with 26 points and a nine-point lead.
From there the kept Metro at bay and maintained their lead and win gold.
Victoria Metro have retained the Robert Young Shield three-peat with a commanding 40-point win over NSW Metro in the final of the boys division.
Ryda Devers led the way off the bench with 19 points with four others scoring in double figures for Metro.
VIC Metro led from start to finish to cap off an incredible week of play.
SA Metro took Bronze in both divisions with a 98-86 over WA Metro in the Boys and 78-67 over Queensland South in the Girls.
Lily Mapp (Queensland North), Kobi Teasedale (Queesland North), Isaiah Jorgenson (Queensland South) and Eliza Ashby (Victoria Country) won the defensive players of the tournament.
Victoria Metro Boys won the Trish Fallon Fair Play award.
The Foot Locker U16 National Championships will return to Bendigo again in 2025.
