Some of the nation’s top young basketballers will head to Perth next year for the 2025 Foot Locker U14 Club Championships.
The Championships will see 720 participants from Australia’s top forty-eight boys and girls junior teams, competing in 186 games at Willetton Stadium over six days, from 27 September – 3 October, during the school holidays.
Supporting the players will also be 90 officials and hundreds of visiting friends and family, boosting the number of out-of-state visitors at the event, which is being hosted in Perth for the first time.
Sport and Recreation Minister David Templeman was excited to welcome the junior basketball event to the state.
“The WA Government is proud to support sport at early age to help foster the next generation of athletes, and hosting this important event on the competitive youth sports calendar is a big win for our state’s basketball-mad kids." Templeman said.
“Perth is home to some first-class sporting venues, and it’s fantastic to see our investment in that infrastructure pay off as we secure a large-scale sporting competition like the U14 Club Championships to use venues like Willetton Stadium for their full potential.”
