Another thrilling day of basketball saw dominant performances, tight finishes and high scoring action across the Ivor Burge and Under 20 Championships.
Under 20 Men
The men started off with Tasmania claiming a hard fought win against New South Wales Blue, taking the game 65-59.
Western Australia edged out New South Wales 84-81 in a thrilling finish for one of the closest games of the day. Victoria Navy held strong against South Australia, winning 89-76 to book their spot in the gold medal game.
Queensland and Victoria faced off in a championship rematch from last year, but this time Queensland held on in a high-energy showdown to claim a 89-82 win over Victoria as they set a date in the final with Victoria Navy.
Under 20 Women
The day kicked off with a Tasmania upset over Victoria Navy, holding on to a 75-70 victory. Western Australia were commanding as they held off ACT, edging them out 77-63.
New South Wales had a tight tussle against Victoria, holding on to a narrow two point win to set themselves up for a gold medal opportunity, winning 55-53.
Queensland closed out the division with a strong performance over South Australia 73-53 to book their place in the gold medal match.
Ivor Burge Men
New Zealand Whaikaha overpowered Queensland with a statement performance, 107-69. South Australia was equally impressive, taking down Tasmania 99-63 to set their place in the gold medal decider.
Victoria showcased why they have been the team to beat all tournament with a 119-25 demolition against New South Wales, as they are set to face Tasmania in the decider. Queensland picked up a tidy 86-70 win over Western Australia.
Ivor Burge Women
It was a day of big margins in the IBW tournament, starting off with South Australia securing a 85-48 win over Queensland.
New South Wales dominated Western Australia, winning 90-15. Victoria swept past ACT with a 65-40 win. Victoria’s next challenge was against South Australia, but they dominated 87-24 to set their place in the final.
In the evening, ACT had a back and forth battle against New South Wales which went down to the wire, however ACT landed crucial blows down the stretch to secure a 76-71 win to set their place in the gold medal match.
Queensland ended their tournament with a victory over Western Australia 55-32.
